This position is responsible for managing and maintaining a productive and efficient thrift store that works within the framework of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society's mission and thrift store objectives. The Store Manager is accountable for managing store employees, creating an enjoyable shopping and donation environment, and generating optimum sales volume. The manager reports to the Saint Vincent de Paul Store Advisory Committee and provides a formal report to the committee once per month.

Essential Duties and

* Establishes daily sales objectives.
Communicates and coordinates
the achievement of sales
objectives with store personnel.

* Oversees and coordinates daily
tasks and activities of the store
within established budgets and

* Builds and maintains a motivated
and efficiently trained sales staff.
Conducts regular store meetings
to inform staff of promotions,
goals, policies, and procedures.
Trains and evaluates employee

* Completes weekly sales repots,
manages inventory. Orders stock,
receives deliveries. Maintains
sales logs, processes staff pay
roll, schedules personnel, and
manages daily cash deposits.

* Provides direction and supervision
of employees engaged in sales,
inventory taking, operating point-
of-sale terminals, receiving dona
tions, and accommodating cus

* Oversees the display and mer
chandising of the store in order to
create an appealing selling envi
ronment. Ensures merchandise is
processed in a timely manner to
generate sales

* Monitors the receiving and pricing
of merchandise to ensure all mer
chandise is properly accounted
for, and that merchandise in prop
erly priced, tickets and displayed.

* Manages customer services and
handles customer complaints, cre
ates a sincere, warm, and friendly
atmosphere for customers and

* Maintains an awareness of SVDP
Society membership and organiza
tional goals. Maintains the spirit
of our nonprofit mission within the

* Implements distribution to the
needy in accordance with policies
and procedures established

* Works to provide a rewarding and
effective experiences for

* Evaluates and maintains an
awareness of local consumer
needs and competitive shops in
the area

* Prepares recommendations for
promotions and marketing

* Maintains knowledge of all policies and procedures and assures compliance.

* Attend and participate in regional store manager meetings
* Oversees building improvements
and coordinates contracted
* Other duties as assigned.

* A high school diploma or
* Two to Five years of retail
experience, with a minimum of
two yeas supervisory experience
* Reliable transportation
* Strong leadership skills. Must be
able to train, develop, and moti
vate staff. Must have good team
building skills
* Must be able to drive sales and
have a strong customer focus
* Ability to work with a diverse
group of customers, staff, and
* Ability to communicate effectively
and openly with staff, achieving
results through human relation
* Must be able to write required
reports and maintain accurate
accounting and data collection
