Position Title:  Graduate Assistant (Student-Athlete Success/Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion)

Reports To: The Graduate Assistant for Student Athlete Success/Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) will report to the Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Success

The University of Wisconsin-Parkside invites applications for the position Student-Athlete Success/Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Graduate Assistant. To be eligible, prospective candidates must be accepted into one of the Master’s Degree programs at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The facilities and operations graduate assistant will report directly to the Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Success.

The Student-Athlete Success/Equity, Diversity and Inclusion graduate assistant will work in conjunction with the Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Success, with duties including but not limited to assisting with:

  • Ranger Athletics Study Hall Program
  • Student-Athlete Development Curriculum
  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiatives
  • Athletic Academic Success
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree 

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities;

  • Excellent written and verbal skills  
  • The ability to exhibit professionalism and maintain confidentiality 
  • Strong customer service, and problem-solving skills 
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment  
  • Available to work in the evening and some weekends

The successful candidates will work a 12-month appointment for the 2022-23 academic year with the opportunity for renewal of a second year. Each graduate assistant will receive a full tuition waiver and an annual stipend of $9,000. These positions will remain open until filled. Anticipated start date for the positions will be August 1, with the potential for a mutually-agreed upon earlier start date and summer employment.

The coaching graduate assistants will also serve as an instructor for one activity class for the Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Management department (HKSM). To be eligible, students must be admitted to the in-person Master of Sport Management Program (MSSM) at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Appointments are contingent upon maintenance of minimum credit requirements and good standing in the MSSM program.

Parkside Athletics and HKSM have collaborated on the graduate assistant program for four years, fostering success for the athletics department, sport management program, and, most importantly, the graduate students. Alumni of the program have gone on

to successful careers in college athletics and in club/youth and professional sports, including North Dakota State, Indiana State, Colorado College, Stephen F. Austin, UW-Parkside, University of Illinois-Chicago, and Quincy.
