CAREER DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

EMPHASIS SPECIAL POPULATIONS
Counseling and Career Development

The Career Development Coordinator with an emphasis in Special Populations reports directly to the Counseling and Career Development Manager.  Partners with agency managers and staff, technology centers, schools, various committees, and external constituencies in gathering and analyzing data to align strategies, structures, people, and processes to support student differences, maximize fairness, create foundations for belongingness, and increase students’ access and opportunities for high-quality experiences within the CareerTech System.  Coordinate and provide services that will enhance opportunities for individuals within special populations to fully participate in career and technology education.  Provide expertise, consultation, and leadership in working with technology centers career advisement on recruiting non-traditional students.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

  • Master’s degree in guidance and counseling or an equivalent combination of bachelor’s degree and experience in special education, teaching, student advisement, student recruitment, or guidance
  • Knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal guidelines and legislation such as IDEIA, Section 504, and ADA.       

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in career and technology education and an understanding of special populations as defined in Perkins V

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide technical assistance to career and technology education personnel, special education personnel, counselors, parents, students, and other appropriate individuals to ensure appropriate services and programs are accessible to and provided for individuals within special populations.
  2. Coordinate and/or assist in developing/adapting and promoting products targeted toward services to individuals within special populations.
  3. In collaboration with other partners and stakeholders, develop and oversee programs, services, and initiatives to elevate appreciation and respect in work and education experiences of agency staff, CareerTech System teachers and students; lead and coordinate non-traditional recruitment activities.
  4. Collect and use data to assess the effectiveness of initiatives, to enhance their success and to identify opportunities and best practices.
  5. Work effectively with diverse constituencies in an objective and impartial manner to foster an agency and network climate valuing differences among staff, teachers, and students.
  6. Coordinate, develop, facilitate, and deliver statewide professional development efforts provided by the agency to meet leadership and professional development needs. Serve as the Non-Traditional contact and grant administrator.

Salary/Benefits: $56,985.95 - $63,421.34 commensurate with education or experience. Health, dental, life and disability insurance; flexible benefits plan; teacher’s retirement; vacation/sick leave; paid holidays; employee assistance program; and flex-time options. Total salary and benefits package valued at $69,536.53 - $76,456.30
