Job Description:
Longwood University invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Content and Social Media. The Associate Director of Content and Social Media will provide strategic and collaborative project management support for content marketing projects and campaigns within the Marketing, Communications, and Engagement (MCE) Office, which includes Alumni and Career Services (OACS) and a priority focus on Admissions. Working closely with MCE and Admissions leadership, the Associate Director of Content and Social Media will play a critical and central role within a team that works collaboratively to engage audiences and position the university in a positive manner. To achieve this work, the team strategizes, produces, distributes, and evaluates a wide variety of digital content and will rely on a collaborative leader to coordinate the work involved. This position will also take primary responsibility for content deployed to social media platforms.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Plan, manage, track, and evaluate content marketing projects and campaigns, with an eye on coordinating the content creation and distribution
- Serve as traffic manager for a highly productive team of writers, designers, digital media producers, and more
- Utilize project / task management software (e.g., Asana) to organize, track and report on projects and campaigns
- Plan and manage flexible project schedules and a robust communication calendar, negotiating timelines and ensuring content distribution in a timely manner to meet goals
- Generate creative briefs and regular status reports, lead project review meetings, maintain regular communications with team members, and forecast resource needs
- Manage a team of students (including student workers and interns) to assist with social content creation and social media listening for engagement, crowdsourced content, and potential PR concerns
- Review social media analytics and provide valuable reporting and insights
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in social media content creation and distribution, and continually assess and improve the university's social media strategy and approach
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or similar field, or equivalent combination of training or work experience
- 2+ years of work experience as a project manager, coordinator, account executive/manager, or related role, ideally within a creative environment
- 2+ years of work experience in content creation and distribution, with a proven track record of developing and executing successful content strategies.
- Must have working knowledge of the major social media platforms and demonstrate experience of having developed content for these platforms
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours due to the nature of social media management and crisis communications
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions
- Ability to work collaboratively, understand and incorporate different perspectives, and build trust with stakeholders and team members
- Superior organizational skills, plus a familiarity with marketing operations
- Ability to accurately scope projects and generate creative briefs
- Understanding of how to coordinate the project management process while maintaining flexibility
- Previous experience using project management software is a plus
- Comfortable with technology and able to learn new tools with relative ease
