East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Maintenance Repairman 2 (Utility Plant)! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country's largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.

As the Maintenance Repairman 2, you will need to think creatively and be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the boiler plant along with other campus systems. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Utility Plant Supervisor instructing and leading team members to safely operate four steam-generating boilers. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your maintenance and boiler plant experience while securely operating auxiliary equipment, completing routine housekeeping, and completing preventative maintenance procedures on campus. To be successful in this role, you must have general maintenance experience, be able to maintain accurate records of steam production and fuel consumption, along with a strong knowledge of boiler plant systems and related equipment.

Your normal hours will be from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM Saturday to Wednesday. You may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Maintenance Repairman 2. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)
  • Maintain accurate shift records of fuel and water consumption and steam production.
  • Recognize impending difficulties and recommends changes to increase plant efficiency.
  • Adjust and repair valves and fittings, boilers, pumps, and auxiliary equipment. Lead lower-level
    employees in the completion of assignments, if necessary.
  • Notify the supervisor of material needs for daily operation, including chemicals, housekeeping
    supplies, ink, pens, charts, and log sheets.
  • Oversee overall cleanliness of plant and equipment on an assigned shift.
  • Inform appropriate parties of fuel supply.
  • Report natural gas and fuel oil consumption.
  • Conduct tests on boilers, water softeners, condensate systems, and fuels; maintain property
    chemical controls.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures such as bottom blowing and blowing gauge glasses on all
    boilers and auxiliary equipment to maintain proper and safe levels.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and corner problems involving equipment failure.
  • Performs related work as required.
What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)
  • Two years of experience performing semi-skilled work in the operation, maintenance, and repair of
    industrial, commercial, or institutional boiler plant systems and related equipment required.
  • Valid PA class C driver's license
  • Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of boiler plant systems and related equipment.
  • Ability to understand work from general instructions and specifications and to follow blueprints and
    sketches.
  • Capable of lifting and moving heavy objects and working under adverse weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the boiler trade.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
