East Stroudsburg University is hiring an Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Compliance. Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU's proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. As the Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Compliance you will be responsible for the administration of all phases of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II program at ESU. This position certifies athletic and academic eligibility as well as educating and monitoring student-athletes, coaches, staff members, boosters, etc., to ensure institutional compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. This position has no direct reports and reports to the Athletic Director.

This is a 12-month Tenure Track Administrative Faculty position. Based on the needs of the business, overnight travel and the ability to work a varied schedule is necessary. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU Athletic operations humming.

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

· Certifies the initial eligibility of student-athletes, including transfer students, by working with the NCAA Eligibility Center.

· Verifies the amateurism status of each incoming student in conjunction with the NCAA Eligibility Center

· Processes and certifies the continuing eligibility of current and continuing student-athletes.

· Works collaboratively with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure that the university's athletics program is in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations governing financial aid and assists with monitoring all financial aid awarded to student-athletes, including initial athletically-related aid and renewable athletically-related aid.

· Maintains accurate athletics aid records by preparing and maintaining a scholarship grid for each sport and revising after each change is made in athletics aid; provides these scholarship grids to the Director of Athletics upon request.

· Provides rules education to student-athletes, coaches, department staff members, alumni, boosters, and other constituents, such as Admissions staff, Financial Aid staff, and the Registrar's staff regarding conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

· Monitors regulations governing recruiting, amateurism, awards and benefits, playing and practice seasons, and sports camps and clinics, plus other relevant NCAA issues.

· Ensures compliance with reporting requirements by assuming responsibility for filing all NCAA certification forms, squad list forms, drug consent forms, student-athlete statements, annual NCAA demographics report, and any other mandated reports, as required by the conference and the NCAA.

· Completes and submits NCAA waivers, medical hardships, and student-athlete reinstatement forms as required by the conference and the NCAA.

· Monitors compliance with playing and practice season legislation (hourly, daily, weekly, and seasonal restrictions).

· Serves as primary NCAA rules interpreter for ESU coaches and staff. Ensures that NCAA Certification of Compliance is properly completed annually and signed by the ESU Director of Athletics and President in a timely manner.

· Coordinates investigation of known and/or alleged rules violations, keeps the Director of Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) informed of all alleged and known violations, and handles all correspondence with the NCAA and the conference regarding rules violations and follow-up responses.

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

• Master's degree is required, with an emphasis in Sport Management, Sport Administration, Student Services, Higher Education Administration, Law, or other related field.

• 3+ years of administrative experience in NCAA compliance, preferably at the Division II level is required.

• 3+ years of experience working with NCAA rules and compliance issues concerning intercollegiate athletics is required. Experience working with PSAC is preferred.

• 3+ years of experience working in Microsoft Office Suite in a professional work environment, especially Excel.

• Ability to learn new computer software if previous experience does not exist, such as Banner, ARMAS, Compliance Assistant, and other collegiate computer programs.

• Ability to remain organized and up to date with data, reports, and updates regarding Athletics Compliance. This includes the ability to compile data, write reports, and communicate data findings to others.

• Strong communication skills required, as the position must communicate laws, regulations, standards, and rules to student athletes, coaches, and parents.

• Ability to pivot from task to task is essential in those position, as well as remaining calm and collected under pressure
